Advanced Graphics Editing Project

- Submitting a text entry box
In this project you will combine multiple images and graphics techniques to create a single image. You will use layers to make an advertisement, postcard size, incorporating a photo, a graphic, and some text. You can advertise anything you like, just keep it clean and legal. I'll be sharing these with my Mother.
Create a new folder called Advanced Graphics
in your Google Drive CS120/Projects
folder to store your work for this project.
You may use your own images but you must use at least one image from the Web. Since you will use images that you do not own, then you must confirm that you can legally use the image(s) and give attribution, citing the source even if it is a public domain image. If you haven't read the fair use information in the basic graphics editing tutorial or the more image editing tutorial, then you had better do so now.
- All editing work must be in a
pxd
layered Pixlr image file. - Your image must be in a 6:4 aspect ratio.
- Your image must be a minimum of 1800x1200 pixels. Note: if you make your image larger than 1800x1200, make sure it's still in a 6:4 aspect ratio!
- Find at least one photograph for a background.
- Find or make at least one graphical image for a logo.
- Expand the canvas to have some color in the background, e.g., a border around or bar to the left or right.
- Use selections or masks with a layer. You could apply an effect to a part of a layer or remove part of a layer or anything else you can imagine.
- Use multiple text layers for labels.
When you are ready to submit your work, upload the following files to the Advanced Graphics
project folder you made above:
- Original copies of all images used.
- A Pixlr format (
pxd
) file with layers, 6:4 aspect ratio, 1800x1200 pixels or higher. - Three re-sized versions of your final image in
png
format. Note: for text layers in Pixlr to scale correctly, you must save your image as apng
first, then re-size thepng
version of the image to get the other sizes.

Invite your instructor to edit the folder then include the following in this assignment's submission area:
- An active shareable link to your project folder.
- Your image source citations and license information. Clearly identify the image name and citation information for each image you used in your project.
- State the hexadecimal value of the color that you chose for your canvas background.
