Basic Graphics Editing Project

For this assignment you will perform some common image edits using Pixlr Editor Links to an external site. or the image editor of your choice.

Create a new folder called Basic Graphics in your Google Drive CS120/Projects folder for this image editing project. Add all of the files you create below to the folder.

For each adjustment add a text layer "by <your name>" to a corner of the image. Each image must include this text.

Part 1

Start with this digital photograph Links to an external site.. Each edit below will need to be saved with a new name. For example, if you started with blues.jpg and then cropped it, the new file name could be bluesCropped.jpg or blues_cropped.jpg.

1. Keep the original photo
2. crop part of the image to 600x100 using the Constraint: Output Size, and save it (e.g. somefileCropped.jpg)
3. resize the original image to 25% of the width and maintain the aspect ratio, and save it (e.g. somefile_smaller.jpg) 
   The next 5 edits will be based on the reduced image you just made:
4. starting with the image in part 3, increase the canvas size so that there is a 50 px border all around, and save it (e.g., somfileBorder.jpg). Go to the Image menu to adjust the Canvas size. Be sure to choose a centered anchor.
5. starting with the image in part 3, change the brightness and contrast, and save it (e.g., somefile_brighter.jpg)
6. starting with the image in part 3, make the image black and white, and save it (e.g., somefile_BW.jpg). Hint: reduce the saturation.
7. starting with the image in part 3, alter image your way using the Adjustment and Filter options, and save it (e.g., somefile_way1.jpg).
8. starting with the image in part 3, alter image your way using the Adjustment and Filter options, and save it(e.g., somefile_way2.jpg).

Part 2

Use this graphical image Links to an external site. and perform the following edits. Upload all files to the project folder you created above.

1. keep the original graphic
2. save the file in png format
   The edits below will be based on the png image saved above.
3. flip image horizontally, and save it (e.g. somefile_flipped.png). Image menu
4. rotate image 90 degrees clockwise, and save it (e.g. somefile90CW.png). Image menu
5. rotate image approximately 45 degrees counter clockwise, and save it (e.g. somefile_45CCW.png). Edit menu, Free transform
6. use the bucket fill tool to change the color of the screen, name the color, and save it (e.g. somefileBucket.png). Use the Pixlr color pallet  to pick a color by clicking the current color, i.e., the larger black rectangle.
7. use the magic wand tool to make the top, outside the computer transparent, and save it (e.g., computer_trans.png).
   You may have to unlock the background layer by double-clicking the lock to the right in the Layers window. You will also have to adust the tolerance of the wand.

What to Submit

Submit a shareable link to your Basic Graphics folder containing all 15 images. To receive full credit, make sure all of your images have the text "by <your name>" somewhere.
