Purpose: Use chips or tiles or coins to represent integers, addition, and subtraction

Materials: Two colors of chips or tiles, or coins.

Let red be negative and black be positive (or heads negative and tails positive).

3. Show the use of the take-away model and the chips or coins for the following subtraction exercises.
   1.  –3 — (–2)
   2. –3 — 2
   3.  3 — (–2)
   4. –3 — 5
