Chapter 7 Practice

Objective: Using Access Built-In Functions

Review the website resource listed above to learn about how a Date Part Function works.  You will be using it to determine what quarter homes sold.

Open/Save File

• Open the Practice File from the Week 9 files
• Save File on Your Device, as Chapter 7 Practice_xx. add your initials in place of xx to the end of the filename.
• Add your initials to the end of the object name you revised.

Review Table In File

Review the number of fields and records in the table for Eastern Oregon Homes.
Some data is true and some data is made-up for assignment purposes.

Determine Quarterly Home Sales/2021

Create a new query that shows Home Location, Sales, Prices, Date Sold, Home Type fields
Name the query:  Homes Sold Per Quarter
Run the query, then switch to Design View.
In the last empty cell of the query grid, right click and access the Build window.
Using the Built in Functions, Choose the DatePart function.
Setup the function to display the Quarter Sold, for each Single Family Home

This file only shows sales through May 22, 2021.

Run the query, to see results of the number of homes sold in each quarter.

Quarters of the year include:  Jan, Feb, March = First Quarter  & April, May, June = Second Quarter.  There were no home sales in other quarters this year, as no entries are made yet.

Save and close the query.

Submit the finished file to Canvas.
